Every summer, I spend a little time reflecting on what worked well in my classroom and what could make the next school year run even more smoothly. As I prepare to begin my third year teaching fourth grade, I’ve realized that classroom supplies aren’t just about making a room look pretty—they’re about creating systems that save time, reduce stress, and make learning easier for both me and my students.

This year’s teacher Amazon wishlist is a mix of practical classroom essentials, organization tools, and a few decorative pieces that will help refresh my classroom without completely redesigning it. Some of these are replacements for items I’ve worn out over the past two years, while others are things I’ve wanted to add after learning what my students (and I!) actually need throughout the school year.

If you’re an elementary teacher getting ready for back-to-school season, I hope this list gives you a few ideas for your own classroom. Whether you’re a first-year teacher or a veteran educator, these are all items I can genuinely see myself using every single week.

✏️ Student Supplies I’ll Always Restock

Sharpened Pencils

I love starting the year with pre-sharpened pencils, and they are a classroom essential! It saves lots of time and energy, and it also ensures that I am prepared on Day 1. These boxes by Amazon Basics make it on my teacher Amazon wishlist every single year because they are affordable, hold up well, and last me the entire year.

Dry Erase Markers

In my 4th grade math classroom, dry erase markers are an absolute necessity! We use them for class work, quick practice, small groups, games, and so much more. To this day, I have yet to find a brand that has the longevity of Expo, so they are always one of my Amazon favorites.

Birthday Pencils and Bracelets

I love celebrating my students’ birthdays, and these birthday pencils and bracelets are the perfect choice! I use them with my 4th graders every year, and my students are always excited for the small surprise. It’s useful and not distracting, and that’s why it’s on my teacher Amazon wishlist for the third year in a row!

📚 Classroom Organization Favorites

Toothbrush Holders for Student Pencils

This is a new system that my grade level is trying this year, but I’ve seen may teachers on Tik Tok have success with using toothbrush holders for student pencils. Apparently, it keeps students responsible for their supplies, and since my students rotate between different classes, this is the perfect solution for lost pencils! If you’re a teacher who has tried this before, let me know if it works for you!

Class Set of Clipboards

This year, I have decided to add a class set of clipboards to my teacher Amazon wishlist! I am a huge fan of working around the room, flex seating, and even working in the halls, so I don’t know how I’ve made it this long without clipboards! They are definitely a classroom essential, and I’m finally adding them to my routine!

Badge Holders for Hall Passes

Every single year, I struggle with students breaking hall passes! My school requires each student to travel through the halls with a pass, and I have yet to find something that can stand the test of 50 fourth graders! This year, I am trying stretchy lanyards. They are easy to spray down with Lysol, durable, and nice looking. What do you think? How long will these hall passes survive?

Magnetic Hooks and Round Adhesive Magnets

Magnetic hooks are a teacher must-have! They are perfect for hanging anchor charts, pocket charts, and ceiling decor. And in a small classroom like mine, I need to make use of all the hanging space I have!

🖍️ Teaching Tools Worth Upgrading

Electric Pencil Sharpener

My AFMAT Pencil Sharpener has lasted two years, but this past year, I had a class obsessed with sharpening pencils! So in year 3, it’s time to upgrade to a new one! And this year, I’m thinking of keeping the pencil sharpener behind my desk for adult use only. How do you handle sharpening pencils in your classroom?

Calendar Pocket Chart

This year, I’ve added a calendar pocket chart to my teacher Amazon wishlist. I love my homemade flip calendar, but the way I’m rearranging my room, I now have the space for a larger calendar. I think it’s an elementary classroom essential, and this one on Amazon matches the theme of my room perfectly!

Sheet Protectors

Amazon Basics sheet protectors are a classroom essential! I buy a pack every single year because I use them so much! They are perfect for dry-erase paper sleeves, and they erase much easier than the aesthetic ones. I also use them to organize my print outs and worksheets and keep them grouped together. The last thing I use them for is math BINGO. We play a lot of BINGO in my 4th grade classroom, and it’s so much easier to use a sheet protector and dry erase marker than to keep up with a bunch of tiny BINGO counters. Amazon Basics sheet protectors are definitely a top teacher must-have!

🎨 Classroom Decor

Better Than Paper

If there is paper hanging up in my classroom, it’s Better Than Paper! If you’ve never heard of it, it’s durable bulletin board “paper” that is thicker than regular paper, has a shiny, durable surface, and comes in many cute patterns and colors. I use Better Than Paper for all of my bulletin boards, both inside and outside of the classroom. It is literally one of my biggest classroom essentials, and it makes it’s way onto my teacher Amazon wishlist year after year!

Decorative Signs (1, 2), Posters, and Borders (1, 2)

The easiest way to spruce up a classroom and add personality without completely changing the theme is to add some decorative signs and posters! I add a little something new every single year, and Amazon always has so many amazing options. Whatever your aesthetic is, you can find something on Amazon to match!

Math Stickers

I’ll admit it…I’m a sticker addict! I use stickers on student work and as incentives, and although I have hundreds of stickers already, I couldn’t pass up these adorable math stickers! Definitely not an essential, but they’re on the list anyway!

📝 Teacher Desk Essentials

Desk Calendar

Although all my important meetings get added to my Google Calendar, I am a paper and pencil girly! I use my desk calendar to mark student birthdays, parent meetings, IEP meetings, and school events. I like to see everything written out, and it helps me remember better. Am I the only one? Anyway, Amazon has the cutest desk calendars to match any aesthetic, so I add one to my teacher Amazon wishlist year year!

Colorful Printing Paper

Colorful printing paper is an easy way to add a little razzle dazzle in your classroom. This year, I’m revamping my math fluency challenge, and I want to print the challenges on fun paper. I also want to print activities for centers and small groups on different colored paper. Is it an essential, no. But is it cutesy? Yes.

Final Thoughts

I’ve learned that building a classroom doesn’t happen all at once. Every school year teaches me something new about what I actually use, what I can live without, and what makes my classroom run more efficiently. Instead of buying everything at once, I like adding a few intentional pieces each summer that will make both teaching and learning a little easier.

This wishlist reflects where I am as I head into my third year of teaching—focused on organization, functionality, and creating a classroom that feels welcoming without being overwhelming. If you’d like to support my classroom by shopping my Amazon wishlist, I’ll link it here, and I’m so very grateful!

I hope this list gave you a few ideas for your own classroom, and I’d love to know what’s currently on your teacher wishlist!

Happy planning, and here’s to another great school year! 🍎
