There’s a common misconception that naturals spend a lot of money on hair products. And I’ll be the first to admit: there are often so many exciting products that becoming a product junkie is all too easy. But to save you the trouble of experimenting with different products (and spending all the $$$), here are my holy grail natural hair products (links included).

Holy Grail Shampoos

Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo

Trader Joe's tea tree tingle shampoo

This sulfate-free shampoo is one of my favorites! The combination of peppermint and tea tree create a tingling sensation on the scalp that feels so good. It is around $7, but unfortunately, it is only found at Trader Joe’s. This shampoo has a good lather, cleanses the hair and scalp, and helps with dandruff. If there is a Trader Joe’s near you, I recommend trying this shampoo.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Shampoo

The Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Shampoo is my second holy grail shampoo. It is sulfate-free and perfect for all hair types. This shampoo has an excellent lather, and it definitely cleanses my hair and scalp without being stripping. The only con of this shampoo is the smell. To me, it has a very strong scent that I am not really fond of, but other than that, I love it! It retails for around $12, so it’s also affordable.

Holy Grail Conditioner

The Mane Choice Tropical Moringa Sweet Oil & Honey Conditioner

I’m not really a conditioner girl because I deep condition every wash day, but when I do use conditioner, this is the one I like. This conditioner from The Mane Choice not only smells amazing, but it also works great for moisturizing and detangling curls, coils, and kinks. I also like this conditioner because it can be used as a rinse out or leave-in conditioner, and honestly, it works well for both. The only con of this product is the price: $16. To me, it is worth it, but if you are on a tight budget, any conditioner will probably do just fine.

Holy Grail Deep Conditioners

Maui Moisure Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask

This hair mask is the first one I tried when I went natural, and it is still one of my holy grail natural hair products! It’s affordable and vegan, and it smells amazing. But, my favorite thing about this deep conditioner is how soft and moisturized it makes my hair feel, even without adding heat. Maui Moisture products can be found in drugstores and big retailers, and this mask is only…$9! I’m telling you, it cannot get any better!

Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration Masque

This deep conditioner is thiccc! If you have thicker hair, you will definitely like it! I like this deep conditioner because it melts so easily into my hair and smells amazing. Also, it is so hydrating, like, on another level! This Shea Moisture product runs around $12, so I would call it midrange priced. But, if you’re looking for the most bang for your buck, I’d recommend the Maui Moisture deep conditioner over this one.

TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask Deep Conditioner

To me, this deep conditioner just feels (and smells) high-end. Before I get into detail, just know that out of all of my holy grail deep conditioners, this one is the most expensive: $18. TGIN is known for being a more luxurious natural hair brand, and with good reason! This deep conditioner is thick and moisturizing, and the smell…10/10! When I use this deep conditioner, my hair feels soft and looks shiny. I LOVE it! So, if you want to #treatyoself, check out this deep conditioner because it is definitely a holy grail natural hair product!

Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate & Repair Intensive Protein Treatment

Because I have color-treated, high porosity hair, once a month, I use a protein deep conditioner. And this one by Shea Moisture is my favorite. Now, I’m gonna warn you…it has a very strong fragrance that kind of gives me…old church lady vibes, and it lasts in the hair. But, other than that, I love this deep conditioner! Although it is a protein product, it doesn’t make my hair stiff, and it still adds some moisture. And for only $12, it’ll do for me!

Holy Grail Leave-In Conditioners

Mielle Organics Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk

Although this product is called a “hair milk”, I use it as a leave-in conditioner. Made with aloe vera, glycerin, and oils, this lightweight milk is so moisturizing and doesn’t leave a film on the hair. To me, it has a natural, sweet smell that I really like. This leave-in retails for around $12, and my only con is that you would need a lot of product for really thick hair. But other than that, I love it!

Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Hydration Milk

Unlike the last hair milk I mentioned, this one is perfect for thick hair! Similar to the deep conditioner from this Shea Moisture line, this leave-in conditioner is thick and moisturizing. However, I have two cons for this product. 1. It takes a lot of work to work this product into my hair. However, this can be fixed by applying it in the shower after rinsing out deep conditioner. 2. This container! It is so hard to squeeze the thick conditioner out of this tiny bottle! I don’t understand why they didn’t put it in a tub! But, aside from those minor inconveniences, this $11 leave-in is an excellent product, especially for the price.

Holy Grail Stylers

Texture ID Styling Creme

If I could only use one natural hair product for the rest of my life, it would be the Texture ID Styling Creme! I’m telling you, this product changed the game for me! It’s perfect for twist outs, braid outs, and one-product wash and gos! This styler is like a hybrid between a creme and a gel, as it is thick and adds both moisture and hold to any style. If you take anything from this post: BUY THIS STYLER! It is only at Sally Beauty, but you can get it online for only…$9! Even the price is perfect! The Texture ID Styling Creme is my holy grail natural hair product. It’s the GOAT!

TGIN Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer

Although this product is called a daily moisturizer, it really is more of a styler. Like other TGIN products, this styler is thick and luxurious! Moisture is on another level, and the smell is amazing. And even though it is thick, this butter did not weigh down my hair. It is perfect for twists and twist outs, and I even used it when I installed my two strand twist starter locs. At $15, I definitely think this product is worth it. Because it is so thick, a little goes a long way, so you’re getting your money’s worth!

Holy Grail Gel

Wet Line Xtreme Pro Styling Gel

After trying so many different hair gels, this one is my holy grail. I know it doesn’t have the best ingredients, but I have yet to find a gel with this kind of hold and shine. On top of that, it’s only less than $5, and can be found at a lot of major retailers. But, if you’re uncomfortable using a gel with these types of ingredients, here is a video of how to make your own flaxseed gel.

Holy Grail Oils

Jamaican Mango & Lime Jamaican Black Castor Oil Peppermint

If you struggle with dandruff or itchy scalp, you need this JBCO with peppermint! It makes the scalp tingly and stimulates hair growth. It costs around $8, and since the oil is so thick, a little goes a long way and the bottle lasts a long time. For more information on how to use oils for natural hair, check out this post.

The Mane Choice Multi-Vitamin Scalp Nourishing Growth Oil

I really like this oil blend from The Mane Choice for my scalp and unraveling twists/braids for styles. I don’t know if it actually helps hair grow faster, but it smells good and it does what I need it to do! This medium sized bottle is $12, but unless you want to make your own oil blends, it does the job!

These are all of my Holy Grail natural hair products! Did any of your faves make my list? Be sure to leave a comment letting me know if I should do a post for my Holy Grail Loc Products!
